April 2008:
‍AAAEA–Capital Area Established

Founded by Eissa Haj-Hamad and Walid Halbouni, the association grew from 2007 networking efforts and was incorporated in Maryland to unite Arab American engineers and architects across the region.

2010–2019:
Annual Dinner Galas

For nearly a decade, AAAEA–Capital Area hosted annual dinner galas celebrating the achievements of Arab American engineers, architects, and students. These gatherings became a hallmark of our chapter’s community spirit and professional recognition, and efforts are underway to revive this tradition in the coming years.

2023–Present: Renewal and Growth

Beginning in 2023, AAAEA–Capital Area advanced its mission through professional networking events, student engagement initiatives, and community-driven programs throughout the Capital region.

Looking Ahead

The chapter is reigniting its presence through new professional events, student outreach, and digital engagement—laying the foundation for the next era of connection and growth for Arab American engineers and architects in the Capital region.
