Program Overview

The Arab American Association of Engineers and Architects – Capital Area (AAAEA–Capital Area) runs an annual scholarship program supporting students pursuing degrees in engineering, architecture, and information technology, with preference given to undergraduate students.

The goal of the program is to promote these fields as worthy professions and to strengthen the connection between the Association and the Arab American community.

The number and value of scholarships awarded each year depend on funds raised by the Education and Scholarship Committee and are presented at an official AAAEA–Capital Area event.

2025 AAAEA-Capital Area Scholarship Program Announcement

The Arab American Association of Engineers and Architects – Capital Area (AAAEA–Capital Area) is proud to announce its 2025 Scholarship Program, supporting outstanding Arab American students in engineering, architecture, and information technology. Each scholarship recognizes academic excellence, community service, and leadership within the Arab American community.
The number and value of scholarships will depend on available funds raised by the Education and Scholarship Committee.

Eligibility Requirements:
To qualify, applicants must:

- Be a Student Member of AAAEA–Capital Area or the child of a current member.
- Be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in engineering, architecture, or IT at an accredited four-year college or university in D.C., Maryland, or Virginia.
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Submit a completed scholarship application and all required materials by the deadline.

Selection Criteria:
35% – Essay
30% – Academic Record (Most Recent Transcript)
20% – Extracurricular Activities
15% – Letter of Recommendation
(Presentation quality — organization, spelling, and clarity — will also be considered.)

Required materials include:
1. Completed scholarship application form (found below)
2. Official college transcript (or acceptance letter for freshmen)
3. One faculty letter of recommendation
4. Description of extracurricular and community involvement
5. Essay on your interest in your field, major challenges, and your professional responsibilities

If needed, the Scholarship Committee may conduct brief interviews with finalists.

Awards Announcement:
Award recipients will be announced at an upcoming AAAEA–Capital event at the end of the year.
Each awardee will receive a certificate and a scholarship check.
