AAAEA - Capital Area
2026 Scholarship Program
OVERVIEW
The Arab American Association of Engineers and Architects - Capital Area, is pleased to
announce its 2026 scholarship program.
The scholarship program is open to undergraduate or graduate students in the fields of
engineering, architecture, or information technology; with a preference given to undergraduate
students. The objective is to promote engineering, architecture, and information technology as
worthy professions and to foster stronger ties between the Association and the Arab American
Community.
The number and value of the scholarship(s) will be decided every year based on
the amount raised by the Education and Career Enhancement Committee of the AAAEA-DC
and will be presented at a function of the Association.
At least one scholarship to be awarded this year in the amount of at least $3,000.
The names of the awardee will be announced at an AAAEA-Capital Area event. The awardee will receive a
certificate and the amount will be provided over a two year period.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Must commit to help AAAEDC Capital area with updating the website and prepare
event announcements for at least ten (10) hours a month for two (2) years.

Must be a Student Member of AAAEA - Capital Area residing in the Capital Area or a child of a current
member of the association.

Must be an undergraduate or graduate student currently studying in the field of
engineering, architecture or information technology at an accredited four-year
College or University.

Have a minimum cumulative grade point average, GPA, of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Applicants must complete the AAAEA Scholarship Award Application and submit
all required documents.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Essay — 35%
Most Recent College Transcript (GPA) — 30%
Extracurricular Activities — 20%
Letter of Recommendation — 15%
The presentation quality criterion will be an assessment of the applicant's submittal for
neatness, organization, spelling and proper English usage.
Please do not bind the application materials into a booklet.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Applicants must complete the AAAEA scholarship award application which consists of items
1 through 5 listed below and email it to
president@aaaea-capital.org by October 22nd, 2026,
with the subject line:

1. Complete the application.
2. Provide an official college transcript indicating course grades and cumulative grade
point average.
(This is required from everyone except freshmen who are required to
submit their acceptance letter into a college of engineering program).
3. Provide a letter of recommendation written by a faculty member (from the student's
field of study).
4. Provide an adequate description of the applicant's extracurricular activities.
The description should highlight relevant work experience, publications, participation in
AAAEA, student/campus activities, involvement in community organizations or a
combination of these.
5. Provide an essay addressing the applicant's interest in his/her field of study, the most
important issue currently being addressed in the applicant's field, and the responsibility
of the Engineers, Architects or Computer Scientists to society and to AAAEA.
If the Scholarship Committee deems it necessary, a fifteen-minute phone interview may be
scheduled with the applicants.
